‘Please fill the survey about your experience’ or ‘rate our products’ are very common phrases seeking customer feedback, heard almost every other day in current economy. Manufacturers rely on such information to understand the market’s needs and demands, and how well their products are faring.
It thus, becomes a matter of pride and joy to see a postcard from 1996 sent by a costumer, informing Godrej and Boyce about the durability of his AB typewriter. After seeing an advertisement in the Indian Express newspaper, appealing people to donate Godrej products for the upcoming Godrej Archives, Mr. Adiani Mahesh from Khar, Mumbai (then Bombay) sent a postcard and shared his delight about his trusted AB typewriter. He proudly mentions that this typewriter that he bought in 1978 was in perfect working condition, without any amends or repairs, even after 19 years!
The newspaper campaign requesting customers and the public to send Godrej products of the bygone time, was one of the early efforts by Godrej & Boyce at acquiring the collection even before Godrej Archives formally came into existence. Records such as this postcard of genuine goodwill, convey not just the gratitude but also the promising quality of products manufactured by Godrej and make the Godrej Archives collection rich, motivating us to soar higher.
